Established in 1986, the Berry College Archives is the primary repository for materials pertaining to the Berry Schools, Berry College, and founder, Martha Berry.  School publications are an important part of the archives, especially The Southern Highlander and The Alumni Quarterly. Four Digital Library of Georgia sub-grants supported digitizing The Southern Highlander and The Alumni Quarterly.

The Southern Highlander

From 1907 to 1966, The Southern Highlander publicized happenings, educational philosophies, and religious work as the Berry Schools developed. The stories described the material and financial needs of the schools, making the publication a critical fundraising tool. The Southern Highlander also described social conditions and highlighted the importance of community-based education in the rural South.

The Alumni Quarterly

Since 1914, the Alumni Quarterly has kept the Berry alumni community updated on school happenings. In addition, alumni wrote in to share news and milestones with one another.
